Solar warranties in Malaysia: equipment, performance and workmanship

HOMI Solar Malaysia: Solar warranties in Malaysia: equipment, performance and workmanship (illustrative project photograph)

A long warranty headline is not a complete after-sales plan. Separate equipment defects, stated module-performance conditions and installation workmanship. The applicable written terms, responsible company and claim procedure matter more than adding all the years together.

Create a warranty matrix

Give each component its own row: module, inverter, battery if included, mounting and workmanship. Record issuer, duration, covered event, exclusions and required evidence. Ask how roof penetrations or leaks are handled. Do not assume one manufacturer covers another contractor’s installation.

Read the replacement costs

A replacement part and a free roof visit are different promises. Ask about diagnostics, transport, removal, reinstalling, access equipment and shipping. Identify whether any charge becomes payable when a claim is rejected. Keep the response target separate from a guaranteed completion date.

Prepare for changes of ownership

Ask whether coverage transfers on a property sale and what happens if the installer, distributor or original model is no longer available. Keep serial numbers, invoices and commissioning records in a private folder. A useful warranty discussion ends with a named service route, not just a colourful badge.

Before you decide

  • Collect actual warranty documents for each quoted model.
  • Separate manufacturer terms from installer workmanship terms.
  • List labour, access, transport and diagnosis inclusions.
  • Record the claim contact, evidence requirements and transfer conditions.

Discuss your property with HOMI

Homi Solar Malaysia can help turn these questions into a clear property brief. Start with your location, electricity use and the decision you need to make. Keep bills, identity records and detailed customer information in an appropriate private channel, not public comments. An initial discussion is not engineering approval, an accepted quotation or a rebate decision. Ask for a dated written scope, the assumptions used, exclusions and the next responsible party. Recheck changing policy with the relevant authority before committing; do not treat a general article as a personalised design or a guaranteed outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Is a performance warranty a guarantee of my electricity savings?

No. Equipment-performance conditions are not a guarantee of your tariff, consumption or bill outcome.

Does a parts warranty automatically cover labour?

No. Labour and access costs must be checked in the written terms.

Can HOMI explain the warranty scope before purchase?

Ask Homi Solar Malaysia for the documents and a component-by-component explanation of the proposed package.
