Solar installation handover: documents and demonstrations to request

HOMI Solar Malaysia: Solar installation handover: documents and demonstrations to request (illustrative project photograph)

A proper handover gives the owner enough records and guidance to operate the agreed system and request service. Installation, testing, programme approval and utility status are distinct milestones. Ask which are complete and which remain pending in writing.

Request the as-installed record

Collect the final equipment schedule, serial numbers, layout and relevant electrical records prepared by the responsible competent parties. Compare these with the accepted quotation. Any substitution or scope change should have its own explanation, rather than disappearing into a generic completion photo.

See the controls demonstrated

Ask the team to show monitoring, normal status indications, service contact and the approved emergency instructions. Battery or backup functions need their own demonstration if included. Do not improvise switching or open electrical equipment; the owner’s instructions should match the actual installation.

Separate pending approvals

Record testing and commissioning evidence alongside the programme and utility submission status. If a document is pending, identify its owner, next step and expected follow-up. Store records privately and keep a readable copy outside any single installer app. Completion photos alone cannot establish every approval.

Before you decide

  • Compare installed models and serial numbers with the agreed scope.
  • Collect testing, commissioning and applicable submission records.
  • Receive monitoring access and safe operating guidance.
  • List outstanding items, service contacts and warranty documents.

Discuss your property with HOMI

Homi Solar Malaysia can help turn these questions into a clear property brief. Start with your location, electricity use and the decision you need to make. Keep bills, identity records and detailed customer information in an appropriate private channel, not public comments. An initial discussion is not engineering approval, an accepted quotation or a rebate decision. Ask for a dated written scope, the assumptions used, exclusions and the next responsible party. Recheck changing policy with the relevant authority before committing; do not treat a general article as a personalised design or a guaranteed outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Do rooftop photos prove formal approval is complete?

No. Approval and utility records must be checked separately.

Should I accept unexplained equipment substitutions?

Ask for the revised specification and written agreement before treating the scope as accepted.

What if a document is still pending?

Record the responsible party, next action and follow-up; do not describe it as already obtained.
