FAQ

Popular Question

Below are the questions we field most often from Malaysian businesses and landowners evaluating a new solar installation.

What is the typical project timeline—from first survey to commissioning?

Rooftop (≤1 MWp): 6 – 10 weeks ‑‑ including site audit (1 wk), SEDA NEM 3.0 / NOVA submission (2–4 wks*), TNB technical review & meter change (1 wk), installation & testing (1–2 wks).
Utility‑scale / Solar Farm (>1 MWp): 6 – 12 months, driven mainly by LSS tender, land conversion, grid‑impact study (GIS), and power‑purchase‑agreement (PPA) signing.
<small>*Approval time depends on quota availability and document completeness

How much can I realistically save under today’s tariff structure?

With the base tariff rising to 45.62 sen /kWh (July 2025) and ICPT surcharges revised every six months, most commercial rooftops achieve 25 – 35 % bill reduction; NOVA participants can offset up to 60 – 75 % of maximum demand charges. Payback is typically 3 – 5 years for C&I systems and 5 – 7 years for large‑scale farms.

Is NEM 3.0 or NOVA still open and how do quotas work?

NEM 3.0 runs until 30 June 2025 or until its 1.95 GW quota is exhausted.
NEM Rakyat (residential) & NEM GoMEn (government) each have separate buckets.
NOVA (Net Offset Virtual Aggregation) is the current pathway for commercial / industrial customers; quota is allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis via SEDA’s eNEM portal. HOMI manages the entire application on your behalf.

Will installation disrupt my daily operations?

No. 90 % of work is performed on the roof or external switchboard. Internal shutdowns (inverter tie‑ins, TNB meter exchange) are scheduled after hours or during weekends; downtime is usually < 2 hours. Our HSE plan follows Suruhanjaya Tenaga and DOSH guidelines.

What warranties and maintenance support do you provide?

PV modules: 12‑yr product / 30‑yr linear output
Inverters: 10‑yr factory warranty (extendable)
Workmanship & waterproofing: 2‑yr DLP; optional upgrade to 10 yrs when roof refurb is bundled.
O&M: Annual preventive maintenance, real‑time monitoring, and guaranteed response time < 48 hrs.

How is financing structured for large projects?

HOMI offers three models:
1) CapEx (Buy & Own) – client funds CapEx, keeps 100 % savings.
2) Zero‑Upfront PPA / Lease – HOMI or partner IPP invests; client pays a discounted kWh tariff for 15–25 yrs.
3) Hybrid / Joint Venture – shared equity, customised to IRR targets. All models are Shariah‑compliant and can leverage GITA/GITE tax incentives.
