Solar ATAP application documents: a practical owner’s checklist

Assign responsibility for documents before work starts. SEDA’s ATAP guidance identifies account identity, the contract, certification and testing records among the application documents. Your appointed registered provider should explain the stage each belongs to; homeowners should not attempt to sign technical certifications themselves.
Use a document tracker, not a chat trail
Create a private list with document name, latest version, owner, due date and submission acknowledgement. A screenshot saying ‘submitted’ is less useful than a receipt identifying the correct application. Do not publish identity or electrical-account information.
Distinguish planning from utility submission
Ask which technical assessments are required before the proposed work and which meter or contract documents follow commissioning. Different capacities and account types can require different steps. Do not assume a neighbour’s approval applies to your property.
Resolve mismatches early
Check the bill account, applicant, property permission and company representative details. Ask the provider to identify missing information without collecting passwords. Keep corrections traceable instead of circulating several contradictory forms.
Before you decide
- Verify the appointed provider against the current official directory and the exact contracting company.
- Agree who supplies account documents and who prepares competent-person test or certification records.
- Request the current forms and a stage-by-stage schedule rather than an undated checklist.
- Retain submission acknowledgements and final records in an owner-controlled folder.
Discuss your property with HOMI
Homi Solar Malaysia can help turn these questions into a clear property brief. Start with your location, electricity use and the decision you need to make. Keep bills, identity records and detailed customer information in an appropriate private channel, not public comments. An initial discussion is not engineering approval, an accepted quotation or a rebate decision. Ask for a dated written scope, the assumptions used, exclusions and the next responsible party. Recheck changing policy with the relevant authority before committing; do not treat a general article as a personalised design or a guaranteed outcome.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use another customer’s documents as a template?
Use only blank current official forms. Never copy identity details, signatures or certifications from another installation.
Is the quotation enough to start every approval process?
No. The exact account, capacity and application stage determine what evidence is required.
How can HOMI assist?
Homi Solar Malaysia can help organise the installation brief and explain responsibilities; official approvals remain with the competent authorities.
