It’s the #1 fear for residential solar in Malaysia. You want to save money on your TNB bill, but you definitely don’t want to spend those savings on fixing a water-damaged plaster ceiling. The truth is, solar panels themselves don’t cause leaks—poor installation methods do.
The Old Way vs. The HOMI Standard
In the past, some contractors would simply drill through roof tiles and apply generic silicone. That silicone degrades in Malaysia’s UV heat within 2 years, leading to leaks.
At HOMI, we don’t drill if we don’t have to. We use mounting systems specifically designed for Malaysian tropical weather:
1. Metal Roofs: Non-Penetrative “Clip-Lock”
For metal deck roofs, we use Klil-Lok clamps that grip the raised ribs of your metal sheeting.
Result: Zero holes drilled. The waterproof integrity of your original roof remains 100% untouched.
2. Tile Roofs: Double Flashing Defense
For concrete tiles, we use stainless steel brackets that sit under the tile overlap, combined with industrial-grade flashing kits. Any necessary anchor points are sealed with chemical-set waterproofing that expands to fill micro-gaps, ensuring a watertight seal that outlasts the roof itself.
More Than Just Panels: The Workmanship Warranty
Buying solar isn’t just about the panels; it’s about the team walking on your roof. While manufacturers cover the hardware, HOMI covers the installation integrity.
🛡️ HOMI 3-Year Leak-Proof Promise
We provide a dedicated Workmanship Warranty specifically covering roof leaks caused by installation. If you spot a water mark on your ceiling due to our work, we fix the roof AND the ceiling. No arguments.
Don’t let the rain scare you away from Solar ATAP savings. With the right engineering, your solar roof actually protects your tiles from direct sun exposure, potentially extending their lifespan.

Do you have to remove my roof tiles to install?
We temporarily shift tiles to secure mounting brackets to the truss, then replace them perfectly. We do NOT remove your entire roof. For some clay tile roofs, we may grind a small channel on the underside of the tile to ensure it sits flat over the bracket, preventing gaps where water could blow in.
What happens if I already have a leak before you start?
Our pre-installation site survey includes a roof health check. If we find existing broken tiles or water marks, we will flag them to you immediately. We often replace a few cracked tiles for free during installation as a courtesy!
Does the warranty cover “Act of God” storms?
Our warranty covers workmanship defects (e.g., loose clamps, failed sealant). Damage from extreme natural disasters (like a tree falling on the roof) is typically covered under your home insurance, but we can help assess and repair the solar portion.
